I am going to get some chain link to put in the sand in the pits. my question is how long of a piece do I need? 30 feet?

That's a real good question. You live here, so you know that the water level is down quite a bit. I would say it would be better to have to much, than to little.
Kinda bumping this up, so maybe someone that actually has done this can help you out.

Home Depot, or Lowes sells 6X50. Lowes cost 80 bucks, plus stakes. That’s what I purchased at least, and what we used last year. Also, I hope folks take their fences and not just leave them on the beach like last year.
