World’s Longest Continuous PWC Race Set for February 25th at Lake Havasu

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA – October 31, 2005 - DSM Events owner, Jim Russell and Mike Follmer, event co-promoters, announced today that the 2006 – Mark Hahn Memorial, 300 Mile Endurance Race is all set to launch on February 25, 2006 from Crazy Beach at Crazy Horse Campground in Lake Havasu, Arizona. The event will once again be sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association (APBA), and it is expected that a very large number of teams will enter to try and break the APBA Endurance Record of 5 Hours 13 Minutes to cover the 300 miles set at last year’s event by Mike Follmer and Billy Womack aboard their R&D YAMAHA GP 1300R.

The race is being held again in the memory of endurance racer Mark Hahn who was instrumental in providing the momentum to keep endurance racing going strong and growing across the country before his untimely death. The “Team format features two riders for runabout (sit down) boat teams and up to three riders for a stand-up craft. Solo riders are also welcome to “Ironman the race on either style of boat, a real test of endurance and stamina reserved for only the true endurance zealots.

The race is being held at Crazy Beach at Crazy Horse Campground that has undergone some massive reconstruction at the hands of Jim Russell over the last several months. “This is now a “World Class site for this very important event, said Jim Russell, “and the 7.5 mile course we have approval from the Coast Guard for will pit all the teams against the wind, rough water and long runs that this event has become synonymous with. In addition to all the weather and water conditions all the teams have to contend with, they will also be required to make fuel stops without spilling fuel and make rider changes several times during the race.

After the gigantic success and world wide recognition received in the press of last year’s Mark Hahn Memorial, it is expected that this year’s entries will far surpass the 28 teams that were there for the inaugural event. Mike Follmer said, “We’re gearing up to make this year’s event outshine what we did last year by getting more give a ways and even better trophies for the massive awards banquet we have already scheduled. “We have on the water still photography to chronicle the event for the riders and magazine coverage and are in the final throes of securing television coverage by tv 45 in Havasu. Follmer added.

All of the pre-race attention and planning for this year’s Mark Hahn Memorial guarantee that it will be even better than the inaugural, which has been heralded as the “Best PWC race of the year! Get your teams together and your entry in early to make sure you don’t miss out on this great experience.

Entry forms and entry information sheets were released today for the February 25th event.

Count me in on this one.
I wouldn't miss it for the world.
If anyone needs a partner, pm or e-mail me.
I will ride a r/a, standup, or a canoe if I have to.
Cant wait to see everyone again and do a report on the race.

Rudedog, Didn't we all have fun last year? I know some people think it is a conflict of terms to put exciting and endurance in the same sentence. But this race isn't like any other. Everytime people came in to fuel people where screeming and whistling and cheering. When Looter came in the crowd went into a frenzy clapping and yelling and patting him on the back while he refueled and got water and a Powerbar. He did this thing alone on a standup. Looter, Looter, Looter!!! You are an animal. Can't wait for Feb. 25.

I hate to miss this one!

Sounds like a great time, I sure hope to make it out this year. I'll keep working on a way to get out there from Florida, anyone going my way? Hope to see you all there.

Where is Steve Friebe when you need him? Give me a call Steve I'd really like to make this one.

Steve? Oh, hey Mr. Team Nobal! Scary Larry, Have a ride for Tony K?

I know this event is going to be big. Those of you who are undecided, GO. . Go there and be a part of honoring one of the most respected men I had the privilege of hanging out with.

We miss ya Mark.

Ok, on to Rude Dog. . "I'll be there!" that's what ya said a week before the world finals. Didn't we talk on the landline and you asked me to keep a bed open for you? I still think there’s a name on the door for you? We had you covered Dog. Maybe next year! And only if you show up to this great race. If you say you'll be there and you flake out again, your cut off. Take care Dog, and as always call me if you need anything.

TK,

You fly your happy fanny into Sacramento, CA, and I'll drve you myself.

I'm racing with Robert Stellhorn, but I'm sure his girl and dad will be in his truck, so if you can get out here, I'll drag you down in my vehicle. (9 hours of babbling bliss with the PWC Bitach

You go girl! I'm might take you up on that. I'll skip the flight to Vegas and save the money on the rent-a-car and the gambling will save me a fortune too. Will you wear that Thong thingy you wore last time? Then there will be no small talk, just pull over there. . . Just kidding for all the rest of the folk. 8)

Hey where were you at WF, I never got that smooch you promised? Oh, avoiding me huh. Missed ya I guess, be sure to come say hello the next time we are at the same venue.

Oh and Evan sent me a great proposal to next years events and the format was great! Fibulas! Did you help him with that? I'm soon going to turn it over to my Team Mgr. I thing Evan has some great events scheduled. Good for all of you in Reg 2, go kick butt with Evan guys.

You be good Lisa and we'll talk again soon. I'll let you know on the Sac ride soon.
