Is there anything I can do?GP1300R sbt motor

i just bought a gp1300r that has a sbt motor in it that blew out a rod the FIRST time the guy rode it. He said it has been over a year now but he had tried to get it warrantied and sbt denied it saying it was installer error? Also if the case is messed up from the rod snapping can it still be considered a core? Seems like someone got a bit shafted on the warranty in my opinion.

SBT has a no fault warranty. If the unit was still within the warranty period it would be covered regardless of the failure.

at the time the previous owner was told there was nothing that could be done by sbt with this motor. We only have a 3-4 month riding season around here so most of that 1 yr warranty is used up in a garage sitting and waiting for warm weather.

If the case is bashed up, they'll charge you (heavily) for welding it, assuming it can be welded.

Re: Is there anything I can do?GP1300R sbt motor

I have never heard of SBT not replacing a motor if it's in the warranty period. My first guess is that the previous owner is full of it.

Now that you have made "accusations" (heresay, but still...) against SBT, it's time to get specific. Give the "previous owners" info to John at SBT and I bet they have a different story.

Lets here some facts - not "the other owner says......"

What part of the cases is toast? I have a set of 1300 efi cases here that has a little crack in the bottom, but the top is perfect.

Chill bud. I never said this was the exact facts and am not demanding sbt to do anything...i simply asked what my options are. Obviously i may never hear the full story since it didnt happen to me. I am not trying to ge a free motor, but am wanting to find out what was up. I am calling sbt here in a few and giving them the needed info.
