Shipping Issue

My 787 arrived today and I had a couple concerns to share. First I'd like to say that so far I have been pleased with the buying process through SBT. Everything so far has gone very smooth and shipping speed was lightening fast! This is just some constructive critisism.

The most important issue was that there was a loose woodruff key in the plastic bag that the motor was enclosed in. There was also a key on the shaft which was wrapped with blue tape for what I assume was a precaution to keep it from coming off during shipping. The loose key in the bag could have easily found its way into the motor through the exhaust or intake ports.

The second issue was that there was no DVD. Not that I really think there was anything essential on it, but nevertheless that is something that was supposed to be included with the 2 year motor.

The final critisism is with the rotary valve degree wheel. It looks basically like a common 360 degree plastic protractor wheel. Those sell for under $2. So the first thing I thought when I saw it was "I paid $15 for this little piece of plastic?!" Yeah, that may be trivial but it bugged me.

Looking forward to putting the motor in the boat soon!

Re: Shipping Issue

We apologize for any inconvenience. You will be contacted by our sales staff tomorrow morning to try to resolve your concerns.

PS We appreciate the information and will follow up your concern on the floating woodruff key

Re: Shipping Issue

Yes, they were great. They sent me the DVD and another calendar. The timing wheel actually is made to fit the rotary valve so it is not just a standard generic $2 360 degree protractor. (Although you can probably use a standard one if of the correct diameter, but not worth the hassle to save a few bucks trying to find one.) They said they would address the issue of the free floating key with the staff. SBT seems to really be on top of everything. Now I just need to find a few spare hours to get that motor in my boat! Dang, didn't realize it has been almost a full month since it arrived!
