SBT 787 Problems

Well last year around this time I picked up my 96 XP with a blown motor. Being a newbie to skis, I deciced that I would try out an SBT engine. I had it professionally installed a little after the fourth of july last year and probably put 20 hours on it. It ran awesome and always started right up. This year I got it all summerized and put it in the lake and it went straight on the lift. This was about 2 months ago.

5 weeks ago my best friend and roommate died in a car accident, so I was not able to be out on the ski at all. It was just sitting on the jet dock hanging out for about a month. I then threw a charger on the battery, (out of the ski) before I went to ride it and the damn thing wont start. I monkeyd with it for a while, and then brought it into the place I had the engine put in and he hasnt been able to get it fired up either. He said it is just fouling plugs left and right. It has spark and fuel, and will fire, but will not run. I took apart all the electrical boxes and cleaned every connection, and made sure everything was hooked up and looking good, but it will not run. I am afraid that I might be out of warranty because I wasn't able to deal with my ski while dealing with my friends death, hell I forgot I had the damn thing. I know the motor was put in after the fourth, and I have a reciept to prove that, so It has not been in for a full year. Do you guys have any suggestions or comments, and any guesses on if SBT will do anything for me??

Sorry to hear about your friend but your problem is probally not SBT related, you need to find a better tech.

Re: SBT 787 Problems

You might want to check the compression & confirm that the crankshaft spins by hand. If you having problems starting, the compression is good, and the crank spins, then it is likely to be external issues (carbs, electrical, etc). Some of the experts on this board are sure to give advise!

If there are issues, you can simply pm us the engine number (on the front of the engine, on the cylinder or head) or call and we can look up the date of sale for you. Your warranty will be good for 1 year after that date.
