Three Palms?

Anyone ride Three Palms? Just found out the place exists and its 15-20 minutes from the house. I had seen it mentioned a few times on the forums, but never realized how close it was. I know its a tad expensive per person, but the gas saved driving to somerville would easily offset the difference.

For those who ride at Three Palms:

How big/little is the lake. How busy does it get weekdays/weekends. Is it worth the cost or should I drive the extra hour to Sommerville??

Any input appreciated.

Re: Three Palms?

We raced there 2yrs ago and IT SUCKS!!!

The owner is an *** and its way overpriced not to mention there is a 11 ft gator that you would be sharing the water with!

Go a little ways to Baytown TX to Genes Powersports and ride there..Its SICK!!! Gimme a shout and Ill get you in touch with a bunch of riders that go there! 214-498-3592

Re: Three Palms?

Zorkman: What R5 is saying about Three palms is true, They are highly priced and depending on the weekends events those prices can change. Now there are alot of Houston area riders that go there for the sake there are no game wardens and its a great flat water pond to test with little or no boat traffic. Also there are bouys already on the water there. I know that BBfish and Blaster ride there as well as some freestyle guys. There is no boat ramp for the bigger lake and you have to watch the hydrilla very closley. They do not keep the lake cleared of vegitation as good as they can. Other hazards are the large chunks of asphault just under the water near the shore lines to help with errosion. We were at the first and last races at 3 palms. We would consider going back there but it would only be for the overnight camping facilities and the fact our Motorcross buddies have something to do other then watch us ride.

Now if your looking for a place to ride that is a blast then follow R5's advice and come ride with us at Genes in Baytown, There is a course set up there already and they have a boat ramp. Most of the Houston area and Beaumont area racers try to meet there once a month to practice and test. Just be sure to bring some shade cause it can get hot. We all enjoy going and Gene and Matt both are very generous to let us ride there during business hours.

Re: Three Palms?

Hey Joey,

Next time you guys get together to ride at Gene's or Boomtown give me a call. I need to drag out my Sport fleet and get them wet.

Re: Three Palms?

Head to Welsh Park at Lake Somerville. A bunch of stand up racers usually go there, setting up a buoy course. You can launch from the boat ramp or from shore.

We always put in/camp at Yegua creek, but I have seen the guys out there running the bouys etc.. Might have to check that out when I make the day trips. How deep/shallow is the water in that area? If the weather holds up I plan to be out there on Saturday. Will have one of the my 550's, x2 and XP.. Anyone else going to be there?

Re: Three Palms?

I was at Lake Somerville this past Monday, & the water level is up. Weather was so so...overcast & windy with some rain. Just me and a bunch of fishermen......

The water depth at Welsh is more than sufficient for pwc's.
