Primers were an absolute necessity on my twin 750 STS's, It got to where mine wouldn't even start with the chokes. Now they start within five turns, every time. Don't know if you've installed yet, but it was fairly easy. The primer line just tee'd into the the carb supply line, if I remember correctly, as it has been quite some time.

I added a primer to my 96 STS 750 and now it fires on the second revolution of the motor - I'd pay double for that kind of starting. Well worth it and it took no special tools to install.
