Riding a standup in Austin

Hi I'm from Vegas visiting my sister in Austin. I am here for a week, and contemplating moving here. Regrettably I do not have my SXR with me, but I'd still like to check out the riding areas a bit. I was wondering what lakes/areas people ride there standups in here? Thanks in advance.

Re: Riding a standup in Austin

Hello Woog:

I know that R5 waterxracing is looking at some potentional sites on Lake Travis for a 2010 regional tour stop and 2011. There are some Austin area stand up and sport riders. Go to lone star chapter and there is a Austin area racers thread. Kurt Divine a supercourse endurance rider is from Austin ( Kyle, TX )and Relentless on here is a Austin area stand up rider. There are some near by racers in Marble Falls, TX. There is Lake Travis, Lake Belton, Lake Sommerville, Lake Bryan(near college station). All these lakes have or will host both endurance racing and closed course racing. There is Canyon Lake near New Braunsfels. We ride teh Houston South East Texas area, and there are alot of racers/ riders in the Dallas area. Hope this helps, We are not the view of Powell, Mead or Havasu, but our BBQ is better. Have a safe Thanksgiving and Holidays.

Re: Riding a standup in Austin

Thanks for the response Joey. I'm not much of a bouy rider, although they are fun, and great exerceise, I'm really more of a rec rider. It seems though that you do not have that big a scene of standup riders in Austin from what I can gather while clicking around in the lone star thread. Also, what is this mention of fees? I have to pay to paunch here or something? Wha does it cost? I can't just drive to a cove on the lake(s) and drop in somewhere?

Re: Riding a standup in Austin

some of the places that you luanch in are in neighborhoods that have boat ramps in parks that charge boat ramp fees. I am sure there are public ramps but then you run the risk of there being no beach only boat ramps and docks. Also there are alot of marinas on lake Travis and unless your a member I know they charge you a laucnh fee as well as a parking fee.
