Remind me about the TX boating / PWC laws??

All,

It been a extremely long time since I owned a PWC.
My last one was a SLX.

I cannot remember what year... but I wanna say 2003 is when I sold it.

Since then, I been into mountain biking.
Now that my son; which is now 11 he's been wanting to get some PWCs and ride.

Could any of you tell me what the laws for safety sake for minors on PWCs?
I know they have to take a boaters course, but what age are they allowed to ride by themselves?

Also...... I remember (then) that the Seadoo RX were the new beast along with the Kaw Ultra150.

I am considering maybe getting a RX, are they pretty good boats to rip some waves and hop some wakes?

Thanks all for any input on both questions.

Mr. Rusty (side joke)
