Newbie from Houston

Hey Guys. I have been a lurker for a while now. So I figure I should introduce myself.

Name: CT
Location: Houston (North West, Cypress area)
Usual Launch site: Lake Livingston almost 2 years ago, but haven't been on a jetski since.
Own 2 crappy Yamaha VXRs. Trying to find a used Superjet.

I have two questions to ask the Houston area members.
- I have two VXRs that I am trying to restore with an oil pump bypasses, but I really don't know alot about fixing jetskis. I am pretty mechanically inclined when it comes to fixing cars. I am trying to get these running as cheap as possible because they will only be used for my friends to tool around on while I ride on my Superjet (once I find one!). So my question is does someone know a mechanic or a knowledgeable person who will come over and give me some advice on what needs to be done to these skis? I will pay them for their time.

- Second question: Where are all the Superjets!?! I have been searching craigslist and I have yet to see one in Houston or Texas for that matter. I really want to give the whole standup jetskiing a try, but I don't want to buy a new Superjet. Anyone know anyone selling a used one?

Thanks in advance guys. This Houston weather is killing me and I need to get on the water ASAP! Haha.

get rid of the oil pumps. Buy a "block off kit" from Hot Products, and go to premix. you will need to premix for your SJ when you find one anyway.

as far as where to find one - there have been 2 on www.x-h2o.com in the last couple of weeks, but they have both sold.

Re: Newbie from Houston

Thanks for the response. Both skis have block off kits, but I have yet to try them out on premix. I am waiting on the batteries to come in the mail. I just picked up two Odyssey PC625 from BatteyMart (http://www.batterymart.com/p-odyssey-pc625-battery.html) and two battery tenders (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00..._ya_oh_product). I just got tired of the Wal-Mart batteries, so I opted to getting sealed ones.

I guess I just have to be patient on the SuperJet. I'm sure mine will come along sooner or later.

Aside from Hot Products, what other online or in-town places do you use to buy ski stuff? In the past I have used SBT.

Not much to buy here in houston for parts other than a dealer. DONT go there
Order online or from jetmainiac.
Some of us have a bunch of extra parts from days gone by.
Im in Clear Lake.

Check with Andy Wise at A.W and Sons (713) 957-3127. He's a Hot Products dealer, and IMO the best PWC mechanic in the Houston area. Multiple time National Champion racer and a general all round good guy.

Re: Newbie from Houston

I drove by Andy's shop last week, discovered it by accident. It is on McCallister right off Hempstead/Dacoma rd (south side of 290).
