Waterbox or no waterbox?

Is the waterbox like a muffler for a vehicle? if you take it off does it add a lil more to the ski? also heard that its suppose to create back pressure so if you in the water your ski doesnt fill up. i dont know that doesnt make sense to me.

Thanks

Re: Waterbox or no waterbox?

The waterbox acts as a muffler, a backpressure device and a stop-gap to keep water out of the engine, not the ski. You will probably lose performance by removing it and it will be annoyingly loud too....

Re: Waterbox or no waterbox?

i you have an aftermarket pipe sometimes you can take it out and not lose any power. acutually aftertaking mine out i had more bottom end punch. (no built up water to blow out) plus it sounds badass.

93 750sx, 44 mikuni and intake, factory pipe limited tunable wetpipe, intake grate, rideplate etc...

Re: Waterbox or no waterbox?

It all depends on many different variables when it comes to removing a waterbox. Most of the time you are better off with the waterbox. If you were to remove it you would want to cut your stinger pipe short and add an inline silencer. Unless you have an 800 plus cc, fully ported motor running total loss I doubt you need to remove the waterbox. Unless you want to be that guy on the water.
