Used SXR Wetpipe question

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the difference is between the stock SXR exhaust manifold (the part that actually bolts to the cylinder) and the Factory Pipe exhaust manifold, when converting an SXR to a FP wetpipe application. The reason I ask is because I recently purchased a used wetpipe assembly online, and I'm not 100% sure if what I received includes the correct exhaust manifold from FactoryPipe; the ports and bolt holes seem to line up, but the part "visually" looks like it may have been replaced or salvaged from some other application (it even has some grind marks on the side of it). Does Factory Pipe manufacture their own exhaust manifolds, or are they using some form of "modified" Kawasaki part (ie. from a 750 or 650)? I sent Factory Pipe an e-mail also but not sure how long it may take for a response (since I did not actually buy it new from them). If anyone has a link to a picture of what I "should have" received, it would be greatly appreciated. I've attached pics of what I actually received; I'm hoping that I don't need to purchase additional/new components to make this project compatible with my ski.

Re: Used SXR Wetpipe question

everything is correct except the manifold, which may or may not work. also the outlet of the chamber looks modified and there is no brace

Well, that manifold has stock written right on it. Is it 3 or 4 holes where the headpipe would mount? If I remember right the factory pipe mani's have Factory Pipe engraved on the front. You will most likely have to buy the factory pipe manifold to make it work.

I saw that. Did they have more than one version?

Re: Used SXR Wetpipe question

I previously have seen a FP exhaust manifold for a Kawasaki on e-bay and yes it did have "FactoryPipe" engraved on the front (however, the ad did not specify whether it was for a 750 or an 800); the only difference I could tell by the tiny picture was that the FP manifold had the brass water fitting come off from the side, whereas the one I presently have comes straight out the bottom. Also, yes it is three holes where the headpipe mounts. This leads me to think that it may have been a used replacement manifold scavanged from somewhere. As for the comment about no brace on the chamber, I'm even more confused now since I cannot compare what I have to what it should look like. Where should this brace be, how big is the brace, and where does this brace attach when installed? Thanks again.

Re: Used SXR Wetpipe question

The brace just goes from the center bleed tube to the chamber. As for the ext mani I have 2 factory manis I am going to post forsale soon.
Ill snap a few pics for you of the setup.

Re: Used SXR Wetpipe question

Thanks for the replys; any and all pics, or links to pics, would be greatly appreciated.

Back to the original question. Is there an actual difference performance-wise or application-wise between the FPP manifold and the stock manifold other than the FactoryPipe logo machined into it? (ie. is a FPP shaped differently to clear the headpipe, is it designed differently to flow more water, or is it an issue with the ports mating to the FPP headpipe?); just thought that I would ask, as the consensus seems to be that I do require purchasing the actual FPP manifold.

Re: Used SXR Wetpipe question

What size is the outlet of the manifold? I think as long as its all port matched, the angle of the 3 bolts on the manifold is correct, and you have a 1/4" pipe inlet it will work just fine. Here are pictures of the brace, it keeps the center bleed tube from breaking off at the weld:

Re: Used SXR Wetpipe question

here are more pics

If its a silver 3 bolt stock mani its way smaller than the factory. With a 750 800 motor you want 47mm opening. The stocks are like 42 or 43 I think. The westcoast is alike 44. Factory pipes is 46-47.

Re: Used SXR Wetpipe question

Thanks to everyone that provided feedback; sure enough, the "stock" manifold port diameter in the pic is 42mm and the FPP headpipe is 47mm. Looks like I'm now in the market for a FPP wetpipe manifold (anyone???). As for the wetpipe chamber bracket, I have a buddy that does tig welding for a living so I'm hoping that he is willing to work for beer If all else fails, this package may appear on pwctoday sometime in the future at a discounted price (at least everyone will know exactly what they need to make it work).
