Light Weight Flywheel free up HP?

I know it would vary from motor to motor but wondering if a light weight flywheel unleashes or free's up HP? If so, what would be a fair range 1-5%?

A light weight flywheel creates no additional hp. What it does is lowers the rotating mass weight and let's the motor rev quicker.

you will notice better throttle response due to less rotating weight, plus getting rpm's faster like mentioned

Re: Light Weight Flywheel free up HP?

Thanks for the info!

Can't wait to see the difference. I have a unused PJS Viper 9000 that uses the Kawasaki 550 flywheel but with a larger ring gear I had jetinetics swap out. The motor is already powerful with 90-100hp so I'm sure this will make it get up there faster.

so would lightweight couplers and fly make that much of a difference to justify the money?

Depends on the money. The flywheel is the biggest weight difference.
