Re: Drilling waterbox?

The 750 can't be drilled that I know of without cutting it apart. Drilling the 650 X2 or SX box opens the flow and gets the gases out fast just like any aftermarket one. But way cheaper and the sound isn't so load while making just as much power.

Re: Drilling waterbox?

750 since it goes in the side and out the top I don't know since there isn't a clean shot to drill. 650 I have posted pics of where to drill but you don't have a 650 hull.

Re: Drilling waterbox?

You can take a hole saw just a tad smaller than the ID of the inlet side of the 750 waterbox and drill through the baffle plate just inside. Most of the time, the piece you cut will stay in the hole saw but be careful not to have it drop in the waterbox as you will most likely not be able to get it out.

Re: Drilling waterbox?

Can't say it was noticeable but we just always did it. That was only about 16 years ago...

Re: Drilling waterbox?

Drilling the stock box is a good way to help initial response.back in the 90's,every 750 used to bog to some extent at a race start because of the water build-up at the inlet tube that you drill.I've drilled many boxes over the years identical to the pattern in this thread with little noise increase and noticed a crisper initial response.
