Looking for a great shop in the Dade or Broward area

Hi all, I have an 04' Yamaha FX Cruiser with a badly damaged spark pulg "hole". It's a messed up story how it got that way, but moving on....

I'd like to get in contact with a good shop that can give me the options and if possible make the repairs.

I've gotten suggestions from inserts to welding to head replacement to complete engine replacement.

based on the limited info that you gave, and sight unseen, id say head replacement.

:+1: on that. maybe you can get a used head somewhere. check in the sbt website. rivayamaha is expensive, but i would check with them as well.

Re: Looking for a great shop in the Dade or Broward area

other solution can be to remove the head, and use some helicoil to repair it. that is what i would do or try to first by myself, before going to the shop... as most likely the shop will replace the head or do the same thing.
to replace the head is not that bad. check the steps in the service manual and decide.

here are some standard steps to repair it without removing the head... i would remove the head thought... just in case...

Re: Looking for a great shop in the Dade or Broward area

Thanks for the suggestions guys,

I've been told that head replacement does'nt just involve "switching" heads, other parts have to be matched (shaped, adjusted or whatever the proper terms are). Is this so?

being that its a 4 stroke with alves in the head, youre right.

first things first though..... remove the head then take it from there.
