| Re: Key Largo I stayed in Key Largo at a place called Snappers over a long weekend. It was pretty nice. Snappers is a neat location. The "hotel" is really just 4 or 5 rooms that happen to be above THREE bars!
Snappers is the main restaurant - and has one inside bar and one patio bar. The Turtle Club which is attached to Snappers has a smaller menu, but turned into my favorite bar for some reason. It is outdoors, open later, and has cool bar seats.
There is also a marina with wet slips, and a place to park a trailer. Very boat / PWC friendly. You launch your stuff at the public park/ramp next door then drive to the slip.
Prices are also low. The hotel itself is a 0 star place. There is no maid service, there is no room service, none of that stuff. Oh yea - when the restaurant down stairs turns on the hot water, your shower runs cold for a bit. But the place is clean, and what more do you need than a bed, a shower, a toilet, and AC anyway? There are three bars downstairs and your boat / PWC is in the water.
Rooms are also under $100 - which is a neat trick considering you are in the Keys on the water with the option to wet slip a boat.
I had my boat and PWC there. The boat would be tied to the finger dock, the PWC tied to the boat. I could ride in the shallow water just outside the channel, or if I wanted to ride to the nearby reef 5 or so miles out. I did both. Why not. Outside the reef at about the 100 foot depth mark there were some nice swells to play in when I was there.
The place is at mile marker 95 or 96 or 97, Key Largo ocean side. |
