| Re: Ethanol free gas in SFLA? Ethanol has not caused me any problems so far.
Some marinas sell non-ethanol fuel, but no land stations I know of do. It is all E-10. Some old boats did have problems with ethanol, which is why marinas ask for non E-10 gas.
What you need to do is have the tanks on your boat emptied and cleaned out. Make sure there is no water in there at all. Next, inspect your fuel lines. If they are old and cracked, get new fuel lines. If they still look good (they are still soft and flexible) look at the numbers printed on them. Use Google to make sure they are E-10 compatible (they probably are unless you boat is close to 20 years old). If in doubt, replace the lines.
You also want to install a Racor water separating fuel filter.
Once all that is done, fill your tanks and KEEP THEM FULL. I use marine formula Stabil as well. Keeping the tanks full means that there is no dead space in the tanks for air to get into. No air = no condensation from humidity. |
