| Re: Info on Arizona Real Arizona unemployment numbers are running around 17%. You better make absolutely sure that you both have jobs that are very secure. It's not expensive to live here, within reason. Summer's are hot, and winters can be snowy(up North-East), to non-existent.
Cost of living and insurance, depending on where you live, will be cheaper. My ice scrapper has sat on the shelf for two years. I'm from California, but moved here from Missouri.
Arizona is a big state, and there is almost every kind of weather here that you can imagine. I live in Lake Havasu, where we haven't even seen more than 2 inches of rain, all year. Summers can get over 120 degrees in the shade, with little to no humidity. We also get "monsoon" type thunderstorms in the summer, but this year, it was a "non-soon".
Just make sure you have some sort of "guarantee" for your employment situation. Arizona is an "at will" employment state. Meaning you can be hired and fired at will, without any reason necessary. Unions won't do you any good here.
Also, our economy is going to get a lot worse, before it gets better. There are jobs here, but, for each job, there are 10 times the normal number of resumes submitted.
What is going to separate you and your wife from the 1000's of other resumes employers have?? Just food for thought.
If your retired, or, like me, semi-retired, this is the place to be. If you have money, it's great. If you need to earn it, no so great. There is a lot to do here, and I usually ride my SeaDoo at least once a week, all year round.
Good Luck. Let us know what area your considering to give you a better answer.
