Favorite retailers for lifejackets?

Hi, all...

So where are the best local places to shop a wide selection of lifejacket styles & sizes?

Do you have any specific brands/styles that you use while riding?

Thanks in advance for any input...

Don't buy a wake board vest. They are not designed for PWC riding. And in California it is illegal. You will get a nice size ticket on the Delta for not wearing a PFD if you have a wake board best. PFDs must be U.S. Coast Guard-approved of Type I, II, III or V or cough up $250. And they won't let you take your PWC if you don't have a PFD. So it will get impounded because you cannot drive off with it.

Also, check the impact rating on the life jackets. You will find that most of them are not up to par. Most are rated at 50 MPH. I have only seen two PFD's that are rated over 50 MPH; the Mustang Force 6 and Jetpilot Flight Side Entry Vest (It does not mean you can hit something at 100 MPH and live, it means that the life jacket will stay together and perform its duty, if you spill under 100 MPH). So,if your boat goes over 50 mph and your not wearing one of these two vest, I will call you a fool to your face.

Here is the main page for the State of California for boating laws. 1 page that gives you what you need: http://www.boatus.org/onlinecourse/s...fornia.html#HP

Jetpilot Flight S/E Vest - $54.99 (100 MPH Impact Rating)

Mustang Force 6 - $270 - $299 (100 MPH Impact Rating)

Re: Favorite retailers for lifejackets?

www.theskiclinic.com can get any PWC life vest that you want in a timely manner.

A lot of our team riders have Slippery gear, but I prefer Quakysense. It's more expensive than any other product out there, but I think that it's totally worth it. They're shipped out of Japan so it takes some time to get anything (I got all my gear at World Finals), but my vest has lasted for over a season now, and still looks really good.

Re: Favorite retailers for lifejackets?

Slippery makes really good products, aside from their footwear. I've been using their Matrix wetsuits and vests for over 15 years, without any issues. It's been my experience that the nylon vests have a tendency to chaff, unless you wear a rash guard. The newer neoprene models are alot more comfortable. I don't know of any local dealers anymore. They've have all disappeared. You'll get better pricing on the web and besides the winter season is the best time to buy the leftovers from the previous year. I personally buy from Parker Yamaha, but shop around. http://www.parkeryamaha.com/

Re: Favorite retailers for lifejackets?

...so I happened to see a Coleman Transmit PFD online, and the idea stuck in my head. This vest incorporates a two-way radio so you can talk with whoever's on the other ski (or to a hand-held).

I haven't been able to find any reviews on it yet. Has anyone ever used/seen one of these? I like the idea of being able to talk to (or yell at) my teen on the other ski when she's not next to me. Or is this just a goofy gimmick?

If your top speed on your PWC exceeds the impact rating on the Life Jacket, pass on it. It can have built in Skype so you can have live video with other people...but that is not enough for you safety.
