Dealership experiences in NorCal?

Hi, all...

I'll be purchasing two PWC in the next couple of months, and I'd sure appreciate any recommendations (or warnings) that you can provide for sales/service in the bay area. Yamaha and/or Kawasaki. It would also be nice to know which dealerships have folded in the last couple of years; it seems like the Yamaha and Kawasaki websites may not have current dealer info.

These will be used out at Lake Tulloch, so info on dealerships in the Tri-Valley, Tracy, Stockton, Modesto areas is also useful.

Newbie question: can I take a PWC purchased from Yamaha Dealership A and get warranty service done at Yamaha Dealership B? I know that's not usually the case when you're buying a new boat...

Thanks in advance for any help,

Rich

Your best bet is to just call around, find out who has what, and see what kind of price you can get right now. Then take your list and decide which one you want.

I bought my ski at a Yami dealer in PA. which has folded. I just had some Yamaha recall work done at a Yami dealer in NJ. so the answer is yes.

Re: Dealership experiences in NorCal?

if your looking for prices,

get you a list of dealers and start calling.

tell them what you want, and whats the lowest OTD price you can get.

when i was looking at a four wheeler. i called every dealer in GA, and i could tell just over the phone, which dealers had better c/s. some dealers were doing everything they could and when i would let them know dealer a in atlanta will give it to me for 500 less than your price, can you do better. some would give me a crazy price and say, well im not selling one that low.

oh and here is some advice, dont go in there asking them about the ski. if they see you are any bit behind on the current market or how much or what the ski can actually do, they will flat out lie to you and make everything seem peachy f'n keen to get that sale.

know what you want before you go

The economy is definately having a negative effect on many dealerships...
We started 4 years ago with Concord Kawasaki Yamaha and Oakley Sport as our 2 main dealership sponsors.
Concord Kawi folded at the start of the 09 season.
Oakley Sport folded at the end of the 09 season. (2 weeks ago)
What shops are here today - may not be here tomorrow so its a tough call...

Try East Bay Motorsports in Hayward, or call the Ski Clinic in Antioch and ask them for their recommendation.
(They might even have a set of used skis on a dual trailer all ready to go.)
Best of luck to you, we look forward to seeing you on the water soon.

Re: Dealership experiences in NorCal?

My recomendation would be to buy it from who ever, but if it needs to be repaired, then take it to someone who "KNOWS PWC", like The Ski Clinic. The factory warranty is only good for a year and I would say that 90% of them will go that long without breaking something that's under warranty.

The dealership I have dealt with in this area and one in the bay area (not 1 of the DJSA sponsors) are really not that knowledgable about PWC repair. They seemed to be more focused on motorcycles and ATVs, which makes sense because they probably sell more of those. Just my 2 cents...
