| Couple quick djsa questions Well I've had the urge to race and read a few posts but none of them have fully answered my questions. So now here's my questions:
1. Is it only standups?or sitdowns too?
2. How do I view rules and regulations?
3. If they allow couches, all I have is a gp1200 how competitve would it be
Sorry for asking stupid questions and I know I'm gonna get bashed for this because I'm talking about racing a slow couch

both
2. How do I view rules and regulations?
most of it is here: http://www.diablojsa.com/id2.html
3. If they allow couches, all I have is a gp1200 how competitve would it be
A GP1200 would be very competitive in the sprint class.

No such thing as a stupid question and a GP1200 is by no means a slow ski!

| Re: Couple quick djsa questions You can think of it like this:
The APBA is like the gigantic Ford dealership in Sacramento (or whatever big city) and the DJSA is the local used car dealership. We ain't the big guys, but we got yo' needs!
(racings fun here too!)

| Re: Couple quick djsa questions Mike,
We run 6 classes of standups and 3 classes for sitdowns.
Most classes are considered "open" meaning it doesn't matter if your ski is stock or has mods.
Your 1200 would run in the Sprint 1300 and under class.
You'll run morning practice with your class, and then 3 heats of racing for an overall score.
If you are new to racing, I will have you start in the back for a few heats until you get accustomed with everything taking place out on the course - and.... we'll give you a nice bright neon lime green ribbon to put on your ski signifying a new racer on the course.
Our rules are simple and pertain more to safety and racing on the course than they do the size and specs of the motor you run.
Sitdowns start with a dead engine, and the racer off the ski with lanyard in hand. When the green comes out you jump on your ski, plug in, and away you go. This year sitdowns will be able to use a holder, but the holders will have to be wearing a helmet, pfd, and eye protection. At sites with no beach access, all skis start in rows of 2 in a rolling nascar style start.
We are running an 11 race point series this year. You earn points for every race you make, and on the race schedule the races with DP mean they are worth Double Points. Someone else asked if you have to make every race in the series, or if you can just run a few... You race only when you want to race, but if you want to make that top 5 of your class, or the top 10 of your division at the end of the year awards ceremony, it all comes down to who has the most points. The more you race, the more points you'll earn, and the higher up you'll be in the standings.
Glance over the info on the diablojsa website, and if you have questions about anything, please feel free to call me at anytime.
I appreciate your interest, and I know you'll not only dig the guys in your class - but everyone in those 8 other classes as well. Its a great group of people, which is why it all keeps happening.
See you soon,
Jim Lambert

| Re: Couple quick djsa questions Most the guys running your class are on this site - as well as pwcrider.com
You might want to look at the course racing results page on the diablojsa.com website.
The results list everyone who ran the series by class, their race number, where they are from, what they ride, and how they did in points. At both these websites, djsa photographer Traci Cottle has posted thousands of photos from every race. They are divided by class so if you want to put race numbers to a ski - just look at the sprint and SCXP class pics.

| Re: Couple quick djsa questions are there any mods to your ski like handling components or motor mods...?? One of the best things is a set of after market sponsons ... If you have the old style gp1200 97-99 then Riva has a good set but not the cheaper ones that are like 2x4's those are ok but not great. These are probably the best things because they will help with handling in many ways and prevent spins which is something you dont want. If not you can also put the stock sponsons all the way down and get used to riding you ski in the neutral and 1 click down position.
Hope this helps. |
