1200" foot rule In the bay. ( silly rule)

Well we are sitting at starbucks in the marina right now drinking a latte
on the way over here I was stopped by water police asking me if
I knew about the 1200" rule I told him yes he said I was to close I said it looked like 1200" to me and asked him how close I was then he did not have an answer. I told him I did not want to break any rules he said just take it farther out I told them they need bouys because How can u tell? At least no tickets it sure is nice that we have the govt telling us what we can and can't do imagine all roads and highways with no speed limit signs and your just supposed to figure it out by guesstimating. Anyway the bay was choppy but it's starting to flaten out looks like it's gona be a great day

Re: 1200" foot rule In the bay. ( silly rule)

If you had a mapping GPS you could mark it or measure it, but you probably wouldn't want to do it whilst being questioned by the water police
1200' is 400 yards. If you think you could whack a golf ball to shore from where you are in 2 shots with a 3 wood then you're probably too close.
I also agree with the bouys. If they are going to single PWCs out for the 1200' rule they should really put 1200' markers out for us and make all other boating traffic pay for them to cover their exemption.

Here we go again. Government oppression rearing its ugly face? Either get used to it... or get active about it. Arbitrary rules about insignificant details is how they keep there thumbs on us.
