yo .mr. bill. what do u think about a 951 DI in a sxr or hydro stand up hull.

yo . bill. what do u think about a 951 DI in a sxr or hydro stand up hull.as compared to a carb 951. is it just splitting hairs? The seadoo DI mpem would have to be used i guess. where in power band would the DI be detrimental in performance as opposed to the carbed engine.
Would it still do 62 mph like the stock 951 carbed and piped?
How bout low end power?
also.. wouldn't the DI be quieter as a plus?
I wouldn't mind running a little more cleaner engine and saving on some gas.

Inside look of the 2 and 4 strokes ouboards, and see why the 2 stroke DI is better and burns cleaner than a 4 stroke.

cant wait to rail on seadoo,s rep johnny smiths direct injection 951 sxr when its done. will be interesting to see how she runs compared to my duel carbed 951 in a stand up also with cleaner emissions than a 4 stroke.

Re: yo .mr. bill. what do u think about a 951 DI in a sxr or hydro stand up hull.

The 947 DI is not a cleaner motor than is the 4 stroke motors for Personal watercraft, but it is cleaner than the carbureted 947. Different strory for an eco-tec DI used in some outboards though, which have shown better emmission numbers than a traditional 2 stroke fuel injected outboard motor, and even some 4 strokes of equal power and size.

The main thing why I would not consider the DI in a standup, is that the DI is much more sensitive to water getting inside the engine in any type hull, but it has shown that to be especially true in the 3D hull, which some try to ride in a similiar fashion in surf or anytime the hull is rolled over or allows water to enter the hull in large amounts. Invaribly, the air compressor gets Hydro-Locked, That will bend the fragile compressor piston 's con rod or break the bolt used as a rod journal at the bottom of the rod. It also can wipe out the air reed on the top of the compressor, as well as also doing damages to the normal parts in a carbureated 947 that can get damaged when it has water in the motor. A DI system is also more complex and water can effect the many electrical connectors that are used on the DI motors. As for performance, it may run as fast as a stock 947 carbbed motor in an SXR, but there are no aftermarket parts other than reeds that are produced that work well on a DI motor, including a good tuned exhaust system.
