| Re: xpl 951 dies in sharp turns Those circumstances of turning that sharply are putting the engine under the most extreme loads. Stock boats will never load a motor quite like what you describe, and rely on slippage to ease the load. Other than removing the accellerator pump and completely rejetting it with much bigger low speed jets, maybe a little smaller high speed jets, to run what you have now, the easiest way of reducing the load on the engine is step down a little bit on your impellors' agressiveness. This may mean sending it to Dave at Impros and having him rework your impellor, or buying a completely different impellor. Dave can usually do wonders to an impellor to solve these type problems if you fully explain to him what is happening, and do not forget to mention your custom hull's ability. He may just depitch the impellor a bit, or reshape the blades to relieve the load on the motor. He has done many like this for me over the years and it can make a world of difference. Ask about possibly depitching or scalloping the impellor blades. Be sure that you get Dave on the phone when you call, or call back if he is not available right then.
edit: I just noticed that you are Australian, if dealing with Dave is not possible, try a lower pitched impellor.
