weight off a lightened 750 kawi flywheel?

I had a 650sx flywheel lightened by you last year and you took off .6 lbs. I now have a 750 kawi flywheel and I am planning on sending it to you, do you take off 1.2 lbs or the same .6 lbs like the 650 flywheel.

I have read 1.2lbs in some of your literature, that is where that figure came from.

thank you for your time.

I'm not sure where you read 1.2 lb, but none of our mods take that much off (it's "alot"). The Kaw mod usually takes .6 - .7 lb.

Respectfully, Harry Klemm

Re: weight off a lightened 750 kawi flywheel?

GNITION - The stock rev limiter on all early 750's is set at about 7200 rpm. The stock "big pin" 750 ignition's limiter comes in at about 8000 rpm. We see no need to rev pump gas 750's beyond these rpms, nor have we seen a power increase by changing the ignition firing "curve". Given this, we recommend that the stock cdi box be retained for all pump gas 750's. For customers utilizing the stock ignition flywheel, Group K offers a flywheel lightening modification. While we only lighten it by 1.2 lb, the change is very noticeable because the majority of that weight comes off the outer perimeter of the flywheel where it hurts the inertia the most.

this was found in your article on "Kawasaki 750 92'-97' models"

thank you for the clarification on the weight of a modded 750 flywheel.

p.s. are dual pulse lines required to run the twin fuel pumps on the keihin 42 carbs?, or can you just "T" the single stock pulse line and safely run the dual fuel pumps?

thank you for your time.

Re: weight off a lightened 750 kawi flywheel?

Well .... I stand corrected. My machinist today reminded me that since the earlier days of the 750 flywheel mods, we have slightly reduced the amount we remove in an effort to improve long term reliability (that became an issue when later model 750s were getting spun up to much higher rpms than the first 750s we built).

Thank you for pointing out the error ... I guess I just burned up all the brain cells that wrote that early 90's text

Respectfully, Harry Klemm

Harry, thank you for clearing that up for me. I appreciate and respect all of the incredible amounts of work, time, and effort that you put into testing all these boats so we can have very fast and "reliable" boats.
