Wb2 1200

I was reading a write up you made about the WB2 in your website and after riding one i decided to purchase one and i am in the process of dropping in a GP1200 motor in it. I still can't find the right answer why no one races these skis when they turn very well and accelerate quick too. I am looking forward to a fast accelerating and cotrolled lean in turning the B2 was known for. I would agree there is not much top speed but i willl trade that with fast cornering speeds.
I have high expectations with the final out come i hope i won't be disappointed.
I am planning to race this at the DJSA series in Norcal. The other skis in that class are a 96 XP800, 701 B1, 1100B1,900XIR,Raider it's basically a open sport sit class. The XP and the 701 B1 are always close. It's not IJSBA it's all about staying in shape and racing in a safe and friendly environment. Any tips would be appriciated.

Re: Wb2 1200

It sounds like a great project. The only serious problem I'd foresee is that the B2 hull is already very nose-heavy ... and the 1200 motor will compound that problem. You may need to play with ride plate angles and/or nozzle wedges to keep it from steering badly on the nose at higher speeds.

Respectfully, Harry Klemm

Re: Wb2 1200

Thank you for the advice Harry. So the ride plate should be adjusted up closer to the hull or should it be shimmed to be farther from the hull? And what is a steering nozzel wedge?

Thanks
Arnold

Re: Wb2 1200

I avaoid using a wedge whenever possible. On the plate, you would want to shim it closer to the hull (or cut a negitive angle on the back of the plate face).

Re: Wb2 1200

Hello Harry i am almost done with the build it went fast. Im posting pictures of the build and i did move the motor as far back as possible. This was achieved by using a shorter mid shaft. The motor even looks closer to the rear than the stock 760.

My big worry is the water box i will run the stock water box but can it handle the pressure from the 1200 exhaust. Im afraid to ruin the motor if it's too restricted.

My other option is to mod the gp1200 box and fit it there.

Thanks
Arnold

Re: Wb2 1200

HI,
i was looking the pics and want to make a question:
when you put a 1200 engine in a WB 2 hull do you have to relocate the motor mounts in the hull attending that the 1200 crankcase is longer than the OEM 760?
At least I think you have to relocate the rear ones but from the pics it seems that both four are moved back.
Another info, did you cut out the OEM hull mounts and then you glued them in new position? (back in the hull)
Thank you
Michele

Re: Wb2 1200

Arnold,
You concern about the waterbox is well founded. Note that 1100 came stock with two very large waterboxes, and we routinely ran only one. Getting an 1100 box would be a good idea. I have a couple on hand ...$45 each plus freight.

Respectfully, Harry Klemm

You can get away with that but like one dude suggested it would have been easier if i made use of a bed plate adapter.

Re: Wb2 1200

I dig into this conversion this weekend. Swapping out the 64x for a Mod 63m. I plan to fiberglass in the front two engine mounts. So I will be using all 6 mounts just like in the raider hull. My only convern is what impeller to run.. I could just swap out the B2 pump and install the Raider pump and see what it rev's out on the Tach.

I will be sending out the 63m cylinder head to be milled by Harry along with 44mm carbs to be jetted. Which will go on a Riva 63m intake manifold with Vforce 3 reeds and Riva FA's and adaptors. With a Riva Rev limiter. I run a Protec ride plate on my B2 with a Westcoast deep two bar stainless intake grate. I also have the advantage of QSTS on the '97 WB2

I am waiting on one more 44mm carb and then I can send my parts out to Harry. The carbs need to be jetted.
