kawi 750xi cyldiner porting

Hi Harry,
I am looking into pump gas porting my 750 xi. I see that your engine packages for these boats uses the stock exhaust system. i am currenty running a coffman rocket series pipe on my 97. Can this motor be ported in a similar way as your sleeper engine package even with the coffman pipe and maintain the its reliabilty? I am currently running right under 52 mph (gps) with the pipe, f/a's and solas prop. would i still gain a couple of mph's on top with the sleeper kit? i want to continue using this pipe, basically looking for more umph from top to bottom and still be reliable and run on pump gas.

Re: kawi 750xi cyldiner porting

The porting (and head mod combo) would definitely help overall acceleration, as well as help a bit in peak speed. Your reliabily is directly connected to the peak rpm you select, and what percentage of operating time you spend at that peak. If you are a peak rpm most of the time .... reliability is reduced.... and the likelyhood of operating "safely" on pump gas is reduced.

It would be very important to get a tach on the boat to confirm you are turning into the 7200-7300 target window. Also know that exit nozzle boring would likely be a benifit as well ( oem is 76mm, and we recommend 80mm).

Your boat has the large-mouth Kiehin carbs that work very well when bored, and I would recommend stock reed cages & petals.

Respectfully, Harry Klemm
