| Re: acceptable bore taper in yamaha twin? Bores do not "wear" in a taper, but rather wear more heavily on the front and rear thrust faces... most noticable around the port windows. We call those low spots on the bores around the ports "shadow areas" because that's what they look like after honing. Shadow low areas can be .002 -.0003" .... but taper in the bore is not good & not acceptable at all.
