845 in Kawasaki X2

Harry,

We have installed the GK 845 in an "old style" X2 and looking for some help with choosing the correct impeller / pump setup. Overall, the power delivery is good but does feel like it should have more. We're running everything 100% per your recommendations with the expection of the pump / impeller. The pump is the the OEM 140mm with a setback OEM SXR impeller modified by Impros. Can you give me a recommendation on impeller, nozzle boring, etc?

The top end on this thing is great but feels a bit lazy (for an 845) on the bottom. There is zero cavitation with the current pump arrangement.

For reference, this is the current setup (other than listed above):
  1. B Pipe with SJ Limited chamber. 1/2 turn bottom, closed middle, 2 turns top
  2. MSD Enhancer
  3. 62T electrical system with OEM flywheel
  4. Jetworks FC Valve
  5. OEM dual 44 Mikunis with GK jetting recommendations
  6. OEM Flame Arrestor
Thanks,
Shayne

Re: 845 in Kawasaki X2

Shayne,
The best way to know where you are on impeller pitch, would be to get some smooth-water peak-rpm digital tach numbers. Ideally, you want to be in the 7300s (with only the bottom screw of the FPP headpipe feeding water... close the top screw). If you are running a stock 76mm nozzle on the pump, that could certainly be holding you back (80-81mm is best).

What are you running for a waterbox?? a stock Super Jet/Blaster?? ... hopefully not a box from a K650 application.... that might be a problem. Did you block off the crossover channel on the oem Yamaha 44 inlet manifold?? While the oem arrestor works "okay" ... a pair of aftermarket pods will certainly offer better acceleration as well.

Re: 845 in Kawasaki X2

We're running the OEM 650 box ('95 with 2" in / out) with both internal baffles plates drilled with additional 2" holes.

The intake is an OEM 760 with the crossover blocked.

We initially ran Pro K F/As but the X2 just takes on too much water (in the surf). Within 15 minutes of riding they would become saturated with water. We did not notice any performance difference switching from the Pro Ks to stock.

Re: 845 in Kawasaki X2

It was mid July and this season is over now. Did this 845 kit get dialed in ? This set up has been out for a while but there is very little information being posted about it. I wonder why, I am sure there has to be more than just a few of them out there.
