44mm carb on 650sx

You modified my superjet motor and I'm very happy with it. My next project is a 650sx.

A few years ago I picked up a factory pipe and a 44mm Mikuni SBN carb (three-hole 6m6) and a westcoast intake manifold to accommodate the carb. The carb has been rebuilt by JSS.

I would like to get this ski running for the summer, and then "Group K" it over the winter.

So my questions are:

(1) Can you do a Hammer package on this motor with a three-hole 44mm carb? Your web site says that you normally stick with the keihin carb.

(2) Will my three-hole carb work for me for this summer? ie, will it supply enough fuel for a stock motor with a factory pipe? I'm pretty sure I'll be ok but I had just heard there can be problems with lack of fuel flow on the three-hole carbs.

By "3 hole"... do you mean a 3 adjuster round pump Mikuni??

Re: 44mm carb on 650sx

Sorry, by "3 hole" I was referring to the 3 tiny holes in the throat of the carb, and meant that I had a 44mm SBN that comes on a 6m6 motor (Superjet 650). I remember reading somewhere that you wrote that that is the most reliable way to tell the difference.

HOWEVER... after a little research I found that I was misinformed about the 3 hole vs 4 hole. Apparently the 3-hole carb is the better one (at least for single carb applications - I heard that that the SuperJet 650 Mikuni carb works well in pairs) that comes on the 701/aftermarket model and the 4-hole carb is the SuperJet 650 carb.

So it turns out that I have a carb that will work fine with a 650sx with factory pipe and later a 650sx that has been GroupK'ed. Just want to confirm that that is correct....?
