whats with PWCToday and scammers?
why is it that these scammers on your site are drawn to your site and allowed to continue screwing people over? i mean, if its obvious that theres a member screwing over other members, why not step in and ban them so they can not scam people any more?
you guys need to step up the security around this place and hand me a mod hammer. you wanna talk about the shart hitting the fan??
seriously, though... the dirkdigglers and js550s really just need to be GONE!
what gives?

Re: whats with PWCToday and scammers?
x 2 for you, Charlie.
I understand how the user agreement pretty much absolves the site's owners of any liability in these scammer situations, and we all need to be vigilant consumers these days, but when threads detailing bad dealings (especially when the member being called out doesn't even respond or just basically tells everyone to F off) start magically disappearing, well that takes things to a whole new level regarding the site's responsibility, IMHO.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that this site is a free service provided by SBT, and I truly do value and appreciate it, but the site ultimately does drive business to SBT. I can only assume that SBT feels the basic cost to run the site pays off for them. Therefore, when someone threatens costly and "messy" legal action in order to get a thread removed, I'm not surprised that the thread magically disappears, as that kind of cost may not be justifiable to SBT. That's sad, but I fear that is the reality here.
However, do these threads REALLY disappear? Based upon what's been happening as of late, I'm willing to bet that more than a few members save the threads that they feel might just go "poof" w/o warning. Just imagine how "messy" it could get if a scammer's victim got ahold of a deleted thread that would have protected them - had it not been deleted in the first place. Hmmmm...
Anyhow, at this point I still feel that the vast majority of sellers here are upstanding people and aren't inclined to scam anyone. It's just that some of the scamming now is so "over the top" that it makes many of us want to scream. This is understandable, as many of us perceive this site as a community of enthusiasts here primarily to help each other. Perhaps the site needs to institute some kind of "requirement" for members to post parts/skis for sale here? I don't really know what that requirement should be, but I know I'd have no issue whatsoever with a formal seller's registration process that even required having a cc# on file, and I'm willing to bet that other reputable sellers would be OK with some sort of reasonable registration process, whatever that may be. However, maybe all that is just too much hassle and expense for SBT as well, I dunno??? What I do know, however, is that some kind of change is in order, if this site truly is a community of enthusiasts helping each other.
That's my 2 cents...

WHEN IN DOUBT, GAS IT!
WARNING: Assuming that buying/selling parts on this site is automatically safe is incorrect, as site management believes in a strict "buy/sell at your own risk" policy. Protect yourself by using the SEARCH button and FEEDBACK sections.
It really seems like things are getting out of hand here.

"Ur an idi0t selling those parts for cheap *thats why your up there and were down here"
"Ur still an idi0t though lol but im glad u sold everything now go get yourself a couch"
The problem with that is that some of the refuse that's been driven away from here has shown-up over there.

Ran with that chopped up aluminum prop? That's pretty much a waste of time. I understand wanting to go for a run but that's like running down the 1/4 mile with the parking brake on.

Careful what you wish for! I think that the idea of having some kind of CC backed registration is a good idea... however I do not believe it should be a requirement. An optional registration could work for regular parts dealers, but I know that if I had to go through some registration process I would be less likely to try to sell something I didn't necessarily NEED here when I can easily unload it on e-bay!
Im just saying... might discourage some trade here when we could be keeping those sales OFF of ebay. Keeping the parts for sale here is also in our best interests. Both as buyers and as sellers. Once they hit the meat market that is e-bay... prices often rise to unreasonable levels.
If someone is going to sell parts here regularly... It wouldn't hurt to have some assurance that they are not going to rip you off! However.... as a community if we stand together and annihilate scammers we will not have much to worry about. Stand up for the people here that are honest people. If you have a known scammer in your area... go punch them in the face!

Re: whats with PWCToday and scammers?
besides, if scammers will claim they didn't actually know a part was d!cked up before it was sold, how the hell are you gonna prove they did know it was fkd?
people buying stuff need to be more assertive when they buy stuff from members that have no feedback and or no reputable member ties that will back them up. I'll use the examples of jon zigler, robert sand, those guys have been on here since day one and have always been very upstanding individuals and sellers. they deal with people in a righteous way when they sell them stuff. they don't sell junk trying to pass it off as good, and they have a ton of us on here backing them up from years of dealing with them and never a sh!tty deal. on the other hand you have dipsh!ts like js550 and underhanded extenze salesmen like drip wiggler that haven't been on very long with tons of negative feedback against them. when someone is trying to buy something from a n00b it is important to profile them and what their trying to sell by asking for pictures of the part, and asking seasoned members of the boards to help them with deciding whether or not they should make the purchase, based on inspection and feedback. we all try to watch eachother's back here as much as we can, but it's usually only after someone gets screwed. we as members need to tighten our ship up a little and try to cut down on as much of this as we can.
although, I agree with you charlie, when someone has been blatantly screwed over by someone like js550 or drip wiggler, and they show the attitude about being called out on it that these guys have shown, they should be trashed from the site, their IP's banned, etc..
Gappa got called out about a bad sale, and his response to was "oh yeah, hurricane, popoff pressure is how many time I had bang your mom before she came."
these people should be trashed from the site.
