| Holy Jeebus! 20,000 posts! Well, I just happened to get a PM today pointing out I was nearing my 20,000th post since joining PWCToday. No way I thought. The I went to check, and sure enough.... I remember back on November 21, 2001 (actually, I think it was about 6 months before that even, but the server had been reset at least twice) when I got an email from a fairly new friend by the name Shawn Alladio. She was letting myself and a number of others know there was a new PWC forum that had just gone live that night...and we should go check it out and register....and do whatever we can to support the then site owners Rob and Bobbie Jo Kennedy. So I did. I remember when registering, the original server was so dang slow, I typed in Lisa, hit enter, and .........waited. When it didn't seem to work, I typed in Lisa again, and hit enter...and waited some more. Well, I got stuck with not one, but two Lisas; hence the stupid screen name. Within a couple of weeks, Rob has asked me to become an overall Site Moderator. I worked for 7 years as a volunteer in that capacity and for the most part, enjoyed helping new and old riders alike with the many questions and requests for assistance they came up with on a daily basis. I've seen a lot of changes over the years, with the biggest I suppose, coming when SBT purchased the site from the Kennedy’s. I even remember way back when we had live chat rooms 24x7, the previous Administrator got fed up and snapped, banning about 2 dozen members in one single day, the site being attacked and the server brought down by what was suspected to be competing website, and there was even an Adult Section (viewable only to those site members who were able to prove they were 21 yrs. of age or older by faxing or scanning a copy of their ID and sending it to site ownership). The stuff posted in there would make certain members here dance with glee, and give them hours of personal enjoyment on those dateless and desperate nights I'm sure. I continued to volunteer as a Mod, but finally got burnt out and resigned in August of last year. Good decision, as it's been even more fun just being a member. If you had told me then just how much time I would spend on the site not only moderating, but discussing the state of racing, where to ride on a recreational basis, relentlessly teasing one another - and even obtaining really useful general PWC information, I would have laughed in your face. Heck, I can easily say most of my very good friends are members of this site, whom I met through this site or racing. Likewise, some of the best times I've ever had were at events coordinated by posting on this site- especially over the course of the last year. In all, it's been a pretty good experience, and usually a lot of fun. But I'm wondering if I don't qualify for some sort of prize? I mean, sure Bill O is the only other member who supersedes my post count (certainly his silly technical expertise stuff has been a whole lot more useful)...but I do hold the record of being the longest/oldest active original member of the site....so that should count for something, right? I know, I win a free membership here, right? LOL! Anyway, here's to 7+ years of time burned up in front of my laptop with all of your dorks. Thanks for the memories. LP

| Re: Holy Jeebus! 20,000 posts! Hey Jonny...I have the same life as YOU buddy. And honestly, I can't complain. Life is pretty good, I have some wonderful friends like yourself, and one exceptionally special guy in my life, and spend a great deal of my time out of town visiting and riding with all you dorks - the laptop affords me to be able to post from pretty much anywhere - so it's all good.
What's funny is I still get about 5 requests a week from members asking for help or direction. Sometimes I can help, but most times I have to refer them to Steph as I turned over the access rights to the areas needed in order to do some of the stuff they need (like closing threads, or editing their posts as per their request). But if it's something I can help with, it's generally easier/more polite to just point them in the right direction rather than to tell them to talk to an admin.
Maybe I should just close the account and start all over, with a nice normal screen name? Maybe then I wouldn't hear "Oh, you're that chick from that site....you're a lot nicer in person than I thought you'd be"...LOL! I'm pretty sure that comes from people not understanding how moderating can make one come off like a hard-azz.

| Re: Holy Jeebus! 20,000 posts! I thought on most forums, if you bragged about your posts they get reset back to 0...... Just picking.
Hope to see you around for another 20k! |

| Re: Holy Jeebus! 20,000 posts! Nah, the reset number defaults to 850 - just ask Ricky G
PS: Didn't mean for it to come off as bragging - shocked is more like it.
