A fine example of what happens when you don't have proper moderation

It all started here:

Jet Ski Haven is a BAD Business

A thread concerning two members here. When both CONCERNED parties agreed that the matter was settled, it should have been closed. It was, after awhile.

Then another member decided that the concerned members, and the site management's desires in this regard were not be be followed, so he started the issue again here:

At this point, the situation should have been dealt with. Several posts by this member on the above thread are in direct violation of the site rules.

It was allowed to escalate of course, and resulted in the attack being exapnded to include me.

I made this poll in response, in order to get some feedback on the situation:

Does ANYONE her think WATERHAWK has anything positive to add to this site?

This poll WAS a personal calling out, but it was fairly worded, and gave the opportunity for BOTH sides to respond.

If it was considered to be inappropriate, it should have been closed.

Now enters another member, who starts THIS poll in order to attack me:

Laserman: whine's too much ?

As you can see, it's not really a poll since it only has derrogatory responses.

This also should have been dealt with - and was eventually locked, but not before it was allowed to escalate to the point of provoking several counter-attacks by myself in self-defense (and offense). It has also grown to involve several other members.

And now has escallated to several personal attackes, which now actually have nothing to do with the threads they are posted on:

And now it's gotten to personal attaks on threads I haven't even posted in:

This is posted in the site feedback section as an example of how situations can get out of hand when the site's written guidelines are not enforced by the controlling members of a forum.

With proper moderation, the situation would not have gotten to the point where Crocket started his personal attack poll, and I would not have had to respond in a way that has antagonized him further.

I do not plan on letting him and the other members continue the attacks unanswered, and I'm sure they have no plans to stop.

This site does not have the responsibilitty to answer for what it's members post, but it DOES have the responsibility to enfoirce the rules they have stated.

They also have the responsibility to enforce them AT THE FIRST transgression.

You know, I was ready to when that "poll" of crocketts went off the front page.

I was even going to let it go when I noticed he took the time to make 5 different photo-shops of the pope - man, he must be pretty tweaked to put that much effort into the "Laser Pope" joke.

But tonight I logged on, and avoided those, and I'm reading that "Rooster Tail" post in the for sale section, and there it is again!

I can't ignore it if it's going to invade every section of this site.

I really think the members who read that other stuff - the members who don't know either of us - are going to make some conclusions. I TRULY believe I have tried to be fair, and have only gotten mean in retailation.

And the extent of my "meanness" is pointing out that they are doing the same thing they are harrassing me for.

And I think neither you OR I have ever walked away from a fight.

I think that's one of the few things we have in common.

I saw your post on the other thread, but I didn't want to mess up the guy's for sale thread any ore than I already have.

I do believe that both you and Dan have offered some good advise. Under normal circumstances

But my experience on this site has shown me that ignoring them does not make them stop.

I tried that with WFO, but after six months of saying nothing, and still seeing derrogatory crap posted about me in threads I was not even posting in, it convinced me that would not work.

So I will continue to submit reasonable posts pointing out the harrassment, and I will take the opportunities they present to enhance their efforts to show everyone what they are REALLY about.

And I'm not really "bothered" by it - I'm more entertained by pointing out how people are making themselves look foolish - especially people who try to bully me.

Please explain why it's O.K. for you to call people names and say degrading things to them but you call them out when they do it ?

So if Name-calling is what you say is the BOTTOM LINE in all this, how come you came out defending Water-hawk, the first and foremost name-caller on this site!

After all, MY objection to him was him calling PERRY a thief and a scammer.

How come you weren't along with me condeming that?

Everyone can what your poll was about - whining about me whining, with no opprotunity for anyone to vote in my favor.

Not sure how you think you justified that.

And by the way, posting issues for discussion is NOT whining - it's how it's SUPPOSED to be done.

I have already stated that that does not work here.

We have some members who's response to a post is based not on WHAT was posted, but WHO posts it.

That's the REAL issue here.

For example : Charlie and Travis go back and forth all the time - and Crockett doesn't get all involved in it.....
