Another Editing Issue.....Parts for Sale

So it seems that I can not edit my original post under the Parts for Sale forum. It would be most beneficial to everyone if the seller could edit the 1st post in the thread to let people know what has sold and what is still available. This way people don't have to scroll through the entire thread to see what has sold. I understand the reason behind not being able to edit some things but this does not make any sense for the Parts for Sale section. I know we used to be able to do this then it was changed for some reason....doesn't seem to be helping out for this type of posting.

Copy your original post
Reply to your own post
Paste in the original list
Edit the list by putting SOLD next to sold items
This way people don't have to scroll through the entire thread to see what has sold.

Re: Another Editing Issue.....Parts for Sale

I realize I can do this....but after a few minutes if you lose the ability to edit this means every time I have to update the list I have to copy and paste it in....just not very efficient if you ask me.

I agree..I hate having to reply to the for sale threads and then making people scroll down to see whats still left. The way the for sale threads have been lately people just ***** them up. Before you know it you have to go through 3 pages of junk and TTT's

Moderators....I realize people abuse this and am not looking for editing to be allowed in any other sections but for the classifieds allowing to edit should be brought back. Who wants to read through every single thread to see what is still for sale and sold. This is a joke....

Re: Another Editing Issue.....Parts for Sale

I found a unique way around this:

I edit my pictures of the parts to contain all the info - price, condition, etc.

Then, when the part sells, I delete that picture from Photobucket. no more link.

Nect time the thread is accessed, the sold parts are gone - replaced by that little "pic has been moved or deleted" sign.

It was the best I could come up with.

Only other option I can think of is to make a new thread once the old one get cluttered up and nobody knows whats still available. But then you may have more than one thread going at the same time and that could be a cluster f*ck in itself.

Re: Another Editing Issue.....Parts for Sale

Just a heads up: on vbulletin you can set permissions by usergroup on individual forums---Steph (or whoever the admin is) could allow everyone to edit their own posts in the for sale forums only without affecting the other forums.

Re: Another Editing Issue.....Parts for Sale

I can't believe more people aren't bringing up this issue. I have about 30 parts up in one thread and try not to be the guy that puts a thread up for EVERY SINGLE PART he sells as we all love when guys do that. I don't think it would be asking too much to get permission to edit in the classifieds....i guess maybe i'll just have to do my all my selling on the other forum for now on cause this is just a pain in the a$$.

Re: Another Editing Issue.....Parts for Sale

I'm having the same problem in a thread in the Honda section. I compiled a big FAQ so that it would be easy for new people. But now I can't go back and edit that post to put in more info. Its a shame that people can't be trusted to not abuse an editing feature. I really would like to have the ability to do so, atleast for this one thread.
