Ski stand for the garage? out of wood?

Hey, it's the newbie again asking dumb simple questions...LOL!!!

OK so imagine the trailer in the driveway with the ski's on it. How to get the ski off the trailer and onto a wooden ski stand, with wheels of course. Would a guy have a winch on the stand so he pulls the ski off the back of the trailer to the matched height stand? Reverse to get the ski back on the trailer using the trailer winch instead? Stand strapped to the trailer so it doesn't walk around?

Am I thinking right on this? I was planning on building a pair of stands on wheels out of 4x4 post material and probably 2x6 carpeted pads with a winch screwed onto a correct height post on one end. That way I could keep both ski's here in my garage all winter and make them all pretty like for next season when you all get to see my newbie riding style...LOL!!! Better anyhow since there is no mice here to make a mess on them all winter.

But anyhow, am I dreaming the right sort of thing on the ski stands? It seems right to me but you guys are the experienced ones and have seen this and done that before. I certainly can build them brutal strong so no worries there.

Oh & the wife says pickup truck so no Cadavalier gonna pull our 'Sharks.

Thanks much,
Mike

Cool, thanks a bunch. Trying hard to learn a lot in a little time span. Sure gonna be nice next spring to get out and meet some of the gang here. One member lives near Anoka and told me about riding the Mississippi down stream of Anoka down to the Coon Rapids dam. He said 7 miles of water to fly on. Still planning on Lake George Saturday noonish or early afternoon for a self learn and teach the wife how not to kill the trailer or plug up the water filter with sand Yes pic's will be super nice. I will build stands next week while she is out traveling. Kind of a little surprise for her when she gets back home to see that her 'shark can stay in the garage all winter snuggly warm rather than in a cold mouse infested pole barn far away. No doubt a better idea.

Mike

Here's a link to one I built out of some spare wood I had laying around. Pretty simple and ugly but only took about 20 minutes and works good.

Mike

Just remember that you still need to winterize the sharks even tho they will be in the garage. Might want to give a post to dank on this one. I'm sure he will know the best /right way for your ski.
You can post for him in the Tigershark forum.

Dang that is slick looking. Mine would have to be higher up as I ain't gonna be heavin & hoing it off the trailer at 400 something pounds Making a 4x4 winch post on one end to pull it on.

Those stand up's look so tiny. Amazing.

tnx,
Mike

Oh for sure getting winterized. The wife wants to bring 'em in but I am sure you guys have a check list of where all the water drains are located and so forth. I certainly am capable of working on a ski. I'll go have a look see in the 'Shark threads and if not found, ask away

tnx,
Mike

That's what I figured. Getting the manuals with the skis so that should tell what to do. All else fails, I'll be back in the forum reading threads. Might be heading up there to pick them up Friday afternoon Otherwise Saturday morning. I think it is time for a nap for a couple hours. Been running like mad all day and need a rest...
