Ottertail is pretty shallow this year, the river is low as well as the lake, its 2-4 more than 100 yards out on most of the sides, just watch for rocks, I know a few people that have lost props and lower units on their boats! No submarines

We have a cabin on Ottertail. Great lake for riding, but definitely watch your depth. Some areas are very shallow for 100+ yards out.

Watch the color of the water and you will easily be able to determine depth.

It's definitely worth the trip. Clean water, open spaces, DNR doesn't bother you, and a Zorbaz on the West side of the lake for a pizza and refreshment break.

Only bad thing is that there is really no public beach.

If you wanna busy lake to ride hit up detroit lake in becker county, its about half an hour a way. Huge beach and lots of wakeboard boats that can roll a nice 3 footer for ya. The water is still really cold though.

Ottertail was great last weekend. Huge rollers on the south side. Water is plenty warm.
