Ive got a 440 topend that has been ported and polished with pistons, not sure if you are looking to do that much work. Otherwise, yeah get a pipe, and mill the head down a bit to get a little higher compression. I wouldn't do much more because putting a 550 engine will end up being a more cost effective way for easy HP.

rideplate, intake grate, and a stainless steel impeller would help. Welcome!

Re: new guy here looking for help on my js440 build?

I'm not sure what your looking achieve or how much your willing to spend to meet your goals but as Alex mentioned a pipe would certainly help.
To take it a step furthur, a "prop" is a must. Putting in an after market prop will give you much better pick up and throttle response.
A "scoop grate" will assist the prop and help prevent cavitation.
Another inexpensive tip would be to "plain" the factory head.
On a stock head - you can probably remove .030 (30 thousanths) of material - boosting compression greatly. That would surely make your 440 feel more powerful and responsive. (Be sure to replace the head gasket - it's never a good idea to reuse gaskets) Work clean. Watch out for sand and grit falling into the cylinders.
Between the head, pipe, prop, and scoop grate - you should find a big difference from the stock ski.

Re: new guy here looking for help on my js440 build?

I got ride plates, and a few other goodies. I don't know how bad I want to sell, but I can let some stuff go...

Do you have an aftermarket rideplate? its longer, and the ones I have have fins on the bottom to help it from sliding out (you can still slide it out though if you want)...

I also have an aftermarket waterbox that will not really help it out much now, but once you start putting some real power behind it will let it open up.

I don't know what else I got I have to look.
