HSR S4 with a Benelli motor?

I have heard rumor that HSR-Benelli is considering putting the Benelli motor in the newest production S4 skis. Is this just a bunch of hearsay that I received through the grapevine or is there actually some truth to this? Let me know if anyone has heard anything regarding this.

Re: HSR S4 with a Benelli motor?

it seems logical but when I asked they said they tried it and it did not work out, I think we will see a hybrid s8 at a more reasonable cost for k-ret will campaign on a updated s8 next year

part of the problem with the 3 cylinder is its massive amount of torque at any speed, they have to figure out how to keep that 3 cylinder boat in the water for if your not in the water you are not moving forward

Re: HSR S4 with a Benelli motor?

It seems there will indeed be a new model in 2010, but not an S4 with a Benelli engine.

Word is about the runabout getting a version powered by the S4 weber engine, way less expensive than the Benelli powered ones. They must still have a bunch of them Webers hanging around. Would be funny if it wasn't sad. That would make a Polaris in HSR Benelli clothes, wouldn't it...

Re: HSR S4 with a Benelli motor?

the 2010 s8 will still have its lambo looks with killer handling, it will be the boat that unseats the s4 as the boat to have

personally I would advise hsr benelli if there not gonna put that six cylinder in the runabout then they should not bother with a runabout at all

Re: HSR S4 with a Benelli motor?

That six cylinder ? Which six cylinder ???

Somebody has yet to see that one elsewhere than under a plastic lid on some boat show. The real one, up and running, not a plastic mock-up. Personally, I gave up on that hope last spring.

As far as the S8 unseating the S4 - good luck with that price tag. Not that it doesn't deserve it. But as long as the S4 is in business, at least something will be paying the bills at the factory. No surprise they came back on their decision on discontinuing it.

Re: HSR S4 with a Benelli motor?

the s4's are all done, all the ones that are left are the ones that will be sold, hydrospace as a factory is done, hsr-benelli moved in and the s4 will be built no more, If sea doo was smart they would buy the rights to the s4 hull which is made at the same factory in thailand as the rick roy ricter boats, sea doo has a good engine for a standup, its a 160 na twin, this is what there rep steve lawler told me

it is also rumored that the 2010 will not be as expsensive as people think

as far as a runabout, making anything else then the six would be a waste of time and resourses
