boost issue

Does anyone know why if I run my boost over 5lbs then it is like the turbo shuts down. I can only run around 4lbs strong. This is a stock ski 2007. I was told maybe my timming is off and try running 100 octane gas. When the ski acts up at higher boost it has plenty of power just starts acting like the turbo has been cut off and sounds like na,na,na,na,na,na,,,ect. Then I can turn boost down with my smart valve and runs great.

....take the smart valve off hook up to factory specs....and clear your sensor errors on the ecu....also make sure your waste gas is opening and closing on the exhaust manifold....Dad

Re: boost issue

I tried what riverdad said and even had an extra stock vacum valve. After that it ran worse. Put turbo valve back on and ran good. But I can tell that the ski has more power than what is there. The gauge I am using is a water filled boost gauge I hook inline from valve to wastegate. I have a long tube so I can hold the gauge as I go across the lake to get reading. It just seems anything over 5lbs and it loses power.

Re: boost issue

This is going to sound stupid but, how do I adjust the wastegate and how do I know when I am at 8 to 12mm. I would imagine I adjust with the adjusting sleeve but where do I start and what direction to get my 8-12mm thanks for your help

Re: boost issue

take ur waste gate out and mark the shaft with the threads flush with where it begins to enter the cylinder. then pull the shaft out and mark 11mm (start off safe then work from there) reinstall into ski and twist the sleeve till u see ut 11mm mark. hope that helped
