| New Product - Save your life with a SPOT SPOT is the world's first Satellite Messenger allowing you to send messages to up to 10 friends and family as well as distress calls to a third party search and rescue company anywhere in the world via the GEOS Alliance. Special Features Include:- TRACK PROGRESS: Also known as SPOTcasting, this feature allows friends and family to follow your progress in real time using your password, or to save waypoints so you can review your entire route at a later date.
- CHECK IN: Also known as SPOTchecking, this feature allows you to let your SPOTteam – the friends and family you have chosen as your contacts – know that all is well, notify them of your location, or save waypoints so you can review your route at a later date.
- HELP: In the event of a non-life threatening emergency, you can use this function to notify your SPOTteam – the friends and family you have chosen as your contacts – that you need assistance.
- GEOS 911: Use this function In the event of a life threatening or other critical emergency to notify emergency services of your location and that you need assistance. The GEOS International Emergency Response Center alerts the appropriate agencies worldwide – for example contacting 9-1-1 responders in North America and 1-1-2 responders in Europe.
ACR EPIRB's can send only distress signals on a dedicated international radio frequency. The GEOS International Emergency Response Center provides 24/7/365 emergency response capability that will not only provide the appropriate emergency resopnders with your exact location via GPS coordinates, it will provide them with critical information about yourself via your GEOS account. Your physical description, allergies, blood type, medical conditions; everything you might not be able to tell responders when they find you, but that could be the difference in saving your life.
I'm sure most of you heard about the tragic accident in the Gulf of Mexico where three of four boaters perished when the boat they were in capsized 30 miles offshore. And you may or may not have heard about the IJSBA race director for the Asian Olympic Beach Games Watercraft race that disappeared while scouting the endurance race course on a pwc. He was able to call a few times on his cell phone, but the calls only lasted a second or two.
I can only imagine that had any of these unfortunate individuals had a SPOT with them the outcome would have been much, much better...
