Why is this forum still dead?

I can't beleive you guys. Its so warm out and no one is freaking out. I thought when I came in here I would see some activity in michigan. I ran out to Grand Rapids and pulld one of my skis out of storage and I got two other in my back yard getting torn down dn got the grille prepped for a good grilling later.

Oh a side note Thumbs up to Michigan fisherman. I was out on the lake my dad lives at to start prepping things to put in the water and clean up from winter and I look out and peopleare ICE FISHING!!!!! In front of the house there is about 5 feet of open water and looking across the lake there are areas of that there more then 100 feet from shore and ice. Our lake isn't al the big but still. In front of our house you couldn't make it to the ice if you wanted to. It was 50 degree out there and 3 guys on the ice. oh my I couldn't beleive it.

Re: Why is this forum still dead?

who sez we're dead, LOL you're just now getting the grill fired up, i grill all winter here in grand haven!! in fact, i got my ski all prepped today, the fresh plug wire job from jetskisolutions.com was reinstalled in the ebox, fresh plugs, and added my (new to me) ultrac intake grate and ultrac plate/rudder combo. i resisted the urge to put the battery in it and fire it up as i don't want to run water thru it while we may still have freezing temps overnight at the end of the week. but heck yes, i was lathered up to dunk the VXR pro today. tomorrow, too.

as for those knotheaded fishermen, i have the same dim view of the few hundred every year on lake st. clair that get blown away from shore. make them pay the coast guard to bring them back to shore. i lived in st. ignace for 6 years and never crossed over to mackinac island in winter EVER!!!! 5 miles of ice with water currents flowing under it is a recipe for disaster. every year up there nitwits would end up with their machines going down, or the plywood sheets to bridge pressure cracks, or losing their way while following the christmas tree line to the rock. plain stupid. i have enough of a time walking on landlocked lakes in the middle of winter. i always said even if they are driving trucks across the ice, i'd find the one crack, fall through, and die.

enough of ice and dumb people... let's get jetskiing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen to that. I just wanted to push some ise out of the way and drive around a little. I got one ski to fire up today. That one I'm hoping to sell soon but my other I am having some electrical. SO I need to make a trip to the store and get some fuses and a battery to replace and hope that was the only issue. I was seriously expecting people in the north to explode today. I assume most of us have great weather for the next few days.

Granted those fisherman are stupid, but you should'nt hate on all ice fishermen. Alot of us take extra precaution before going out there. I never go out unless the ice is at least three inches thick. Coast Guard does make you pay if they have to rescue you off the ice.

Re: Why is this forum still dead?

dolley, i'm sorry if i came across as anti fishing, it's just that ever single year ya here of fishemen falling through thin ice, or being stranded on ice, or something that just really makes you wonder if common sense gets left at shore. as for my comment above, i wrote it not deliberately targeting fishermen, but all of the people i ranted about. heck, without fishermen i don't get to eat as much fish as i do! i know accidents happen, but in the case of speeding, intoxicated snowmobilers killing themselves and the aforementioned fishermen floating around like polar bears on an ice floe, it's hard to dole out sympathy. i guess the same could be said of the jetskier who goes out alone and breaks down in the middle of the lake... hope ya brought a cellphone or a paddle. LOL you're one of the smart ones who waits for some decent ice to form before venturing out. get out and enjoy the day!! 70 in grand haven!!! whoo hooo!!!

It's cool. I totally agree with you, when it comes to those idiots that feel the need to be cool and go out on an inch of ice. They give fishermen a bad name. Summer's comin quick.
