May 1-3 GYC / KI Derby Day

Hey all..here it is.
4th Annual
GYC Rally & Derby Day on Kelley's Island
May 1st - 3rd
Bayview, Ohio
Oh yah..it's that time of year again to get a little wet and wrecked at the GYC. Same format as year’s past...party, ride, ride, party and ride some more. It’s a good chance to get some buoy practice in before the season starts. So, whether your a racer, rec rider, Kelley’s Island partier, everyone is welcome to come out for some springtime fun.
Again, we’ll have about 16 buoy’s to make up a large course. An additional lift is down there now to hold some skis as well. Added more tires to the log jump so it’s about 6ft. long now....plus one additional surprise that I’m sure some might not have thought would be done.
I have also made many improvements to Brokedown Palace II over the winter and spring. Upgraded the shower off area with changing cabana and lots of other little goodies.

Address/Directions: 202 W. Bayview Dr. Sandusky, OH 44870
From North and West
I-280 to Exit 7 Rt. 2 East
Rt. 2 East over Edison Bridge
Exit Rt. 269 SOUTH (Bayview/Castalia)
Left off Exit ramp to Village of Bayview
Follow to end/water, Turn Left on E. Bayiew Dr.
Water on Right, Business’s on Left
Road curves to the left thru 2 NO OUTLET signs
Road snakes around and I’m on the left
From East and South
Rt. 2 West
Exit Rt. 269 SOUTH (Bayview/Castalia)
Right off Exit ramp to Village of Bayview
Follow to end/water, Turn Left on E. Bayiew Dr.
Water on Right, Business’s on Left
Road curves to the left thru 2 NO OUTLET signs
Road snakes around and I’m on the left

I expect a lot of people this year so below is kind of a guide to the weekend for everyone.

Parking: I got about 1/4 acre yard in the village,so there’s plenty of room for everyone‘s vehicles and trailers. I can accommodate the large trailers too if you got one to bring...Crash and Rheeder have had theirs up there.

Lodging/Camping: I’ll have spots to sleep in the house with a spare room, patio floor space, floor space downstairs and attic space upstairs area with a futon. If you bring a trailer you usually sleep in at races or want to camp outside, that will relieve some congestion inside. Oh course if it’s nasty or too cold outside in the evenings, they we’ll slumber party it inside.

Access: We have a small stone ramp where we launch at. I have a beach cart, hitch rack and triple trailer we can use. If you got a beach cart you can bring that would be cool. I would leave the quad’s at home this time. They have stopped me a few times in the past and with this many people it might not be a good idea to have them around. Also, there is no riding on the back of the ski while in tow. They will ticket you. Other than those 2 small things..it’s usually hassle free.

Arrive: Whenever...Friday or Saturday....Come Sunday, but you would have missed out on most of the lunacy.

Friday: I’ll be home from work at 3:12 pm, beverage in hand by 3:13 and then on the water. So, if you up for some riding then, I’ll be out there. In the evening we'll head down to Margaritaville for some..well..margarita's. Recently the whole building was renovated after the fire. The outside party decks will surely be rocking. Nice overlook of the waterfall.

Saturday: Ride buoys til about 3pm..then get ready for more fun. We’ll head over on the 4/4:30 ferry to Kelley’s Island (kelleysisland.com). I’ll arrange for the party van to come taxi us to and from the ferry. Once we get there...it’s on. Pump burgers, Golf Cart races, Strawberry shots, Brandy Alexander, West Bay sunsets and all the soldiers back on the ferry at night’s end....

KI Survival Guide: See me, Cerv or McGlovin - where to sleep if you get left behind.

Sunday: Riding with a hangover. We can cruise out to the sandbar off Marblehead and Cedar Point Beach.

Please save this as your reminder. Please reply if you are coming plus Friday or Saturday and bringing anybody ,so I can arrange for 1 or 2 shuttles for Saturday.

Mark your calendars and see ya all in May! Cheers, Scoot
