new to pwc's

whats up everyone. im a newbie to skis, always been a car guy. anyways just purchased a 95 kawasaki 750 sxi for 700. ski hasnt been started in a year in a half because the guy had an injury. So when i went to look at it we tried getting it to start otherwise i wouldnt buy it. We tried everything and finally the guy decided to pour some gas straight into the cylinders, sounded crazy to me but it got it started. so yesterday i took it out and rode it around the dock for a lil bit and when i went to start it after it wouldnt start again. I dont know what to do now, and i dont want to pour gas in the cylinder. also their is gas leaking out of the primer button, maybe its not getting gas? any help would be appreciated. as well as any tips on pwc's

This happened to me last year when I bought mine, struggled with it for a long time. try putting brand new spark plugs in first, mine seemed ok, but it wouldnt start so we tried new ones and it started right up...

Re: new to pwc's

Ive had this problem with skiis that sit for a while. The carb and fuel pump can get gummed up. They will start for a little bit and then just quit. Try rebuilding the carb, paying special attention to the fuel pump. This has worked for me in the past. The new plugs are a good idea too.

Good luck with your 750! I have a 1993 750sx among other skiis.
Here is the link to my build...

Re: new to pwc's

you probably should replace the gas 1st thing and then do a compression test. If compression is good, then you can start doing some maintenance before you do have big problems. Like cleaning carbs, fuel valve, plugs. You should download the microfiche shop manual for your ski under a "Sticky" on this site. It will be very uselful.
