Keep an eye out for Drew Roush!

A lot of this forum talks about Future Ski class stars, which is great, but people need to keep an eye out for this hard charging Runabout racer from West Virginia. 16 year old Drew Roush first rode a XP800 the spring of 07 and put together a great rookie season, almost winning a National Am. Run. 800 Ltd. title in his first attempt.
With the points lead going into Nashville, Drew pulled a monster holeshot in Moto 1 and a blown cylinder o-ring seized the motor and cost him the title. However, he was able to salvage a 2nd overall finish in the highpoints chase. Still amazing for a first year racer!
With the support of his family and team, Drew will be charging towards the front for many years to come. You can check out info on Drew and his team at:

for what i saw his boat was amazingly fast - but he was not the greatest rider. not too sure about his mechanics either; but they definately have the money to win; sometimes that is what it takes

Re: Keep an eye out for Drew Roush!

The title of this Forum is Future Stars. He's well on his way. As far as having to have money, there's only so much you can put into a Limited 800cc boat. You can build a bad azz limited for less than $3k.. Thats why at Nationals they had a full line with 16 racers. Rider skillz are a huge part of that class. With only a 1/2 year of closed course racing under his belt, competing against guys that have been doing it for a lot longer.......I'm impressed by him.

Luke, if you talking about the one we had at the Nashville race, yes Vince built it. Drew's dad bought it off me. Really awesome boat. Vince does good work.

Re: Keep an eye out for Drew Roush!

The 2008 Nationals are over and and Drew Roush was dominant Am Run 800 Limited and Open. Whats amazing to me is the kid had a sloppy first moto win, corrected his mistakes and went out and charged the rest of the weekend. Winning both classes on a limited and taking home 2 national titles in only his 2nd year of racing. Great kid! So keep an eye out, he may make a Havasu appearance!

Nothing amazing about any sitdown rider. Who ever hole shots,... wins. it's the boat.
