Cold weather riding in NJ

Hey, I just got my hands on a Ultra 150 and I've been dying to get out on the water. Anyone do any cold weather riding? Its going to be in the high 30's to lower 40s for a few more weeks and the water temp is about 44 degrees. And if I did go riding, am I going to have any trouble with the leftover water freezing in the pipes as I trailer it home? I would really ride the Hackensack River or head out on the Hudson for a little bit if anything. My last ski, a Yamaha GP1200R never left the garage after the 2nd week of October and only came out in early May- time for a change!

Re: Cold weather riding in NJ

Where in South Jersey are you? I have a brother who goes to school at TCNJ in Ewing and I go see him all the time. Is there anything good water to ride around there? The closest thing to me is the Hudson River and I don't think I've seen anyone out there yet. I just don't want to get out there and ride alone, who knows how long it will take to find a half frozen Cuban out there with no engine power... Its supposed to be nice tommorow up here, 65 air temp and 48 water temp so I may grab a wet suit and give it a shot!

Re: Cold weather riding in NJ

I am in south jersey,I live outside of Bridgeton, Vineland area. or about 1/2 hour from the Del. Mer. bridge. Couple of rivers to ride , but usually we head to the shore to ride, Ocean City, Atlantice City. Launch out of Tuckahoe and ride the river down to the great egg bay and go from there. Ride a lot of ditches on the way. You are welcome to ride any time down this way.

Re: Cold weather riding in NJ

I ride in Ocean City with whoever I can convince to go out, whenever I can convince them to go out. My RN is all I have to ride for the moment as the Kawi-Doo needs a bendix gear and I won't be able to take care of that for at least 10 days. Once that is in order I wanna set up some buoys and get out at least 2-3 days a week on them.
