Blue Marsh an option for group of newbies?

I have 3 standups and want to take a few friends out and teach them how to ride and generally hang out and have a good time. I can't think of anywhere to go. I need a place where about 10 people can come and hang out in a very safe place and try to ride. They'd love to bring kids so bathroom facilities would be a huge plus. I see Blue Marsh has these facilities listed on their website. Do they have a beach where we can hang out and ride the skis?

Thanks.

Hey JK,

Both the statehill and the drybrooks launches have plenty of room for hanging out and anchoring/beaching your ski's. I know drybrooks has a bathroom, tables, soda machine and grills. Im not sure about statehill. I wouldnt recommend either launch area for swimming, since there is alot of ski/boat traffic. Sure you can wade there, but for little children it probably isnt the best. If swimming is what your looking for you can drop your friends/family of at the beach and drive over to the ramps and launch your ski's. Good luck dealing with the riff raff at the beach if you choose to go there. Just make sure your friends all have their boating license. The rangers are pretty cool, but if you break the law they will catch you.

Sounds like Blue Marsh is the place but I completely forgot about the boating license. I am not sure if everyone will want to shell out the $25 to take the test. Probably looking at 7-8 people who would need to take the test. Thanks for the reminder!!!

And as Mr. Sub (sxiguysjgirl) say, there is alot of boater traffic there. May want to stay away from the place on a sunday. We are there as he is every week and sundays it can get really packed.

It would be Saturday if the group decides to take the test.

I'd stay away from the weekends if you plan on people trying to learn. It can get pretty choppy except for a couple coves. Between the chop, and stress of boat traffic coming from every direction, I think it would probably just frustrate a beginner.

The weekdays are a whole different story though. You can swim at the launches, but like Russ said you can't expect to be out doing laps. If its just a couple kids wanting to splash around in a couple feet of water you'll be fine, I swim there all the time, haha. Just keep a look out for incoming boats/skis.

Make sure everyone has a license and you're set.

All this aside, when are you gonna come ride with us??

Re: Blue Marsh an option for group of newbies?

I go to Beltzville a lot. I've never had a problem with the rangers there. From the water view, there's a nice stretch of waterline to the right of the beach that you can park/beach your pwc so your friends can be close to their kids playing on the beach.

It gets pretty crowded on the weekends but i think it's much larger than blue marsh. It also has a 45 mph limit everyday. Just make sure that your friends have their licenses.

They also have running water in the bathrooms. But as previously stated in an upper post, the riff raff on the beach does happen.
