Anyone interested in starting a hull making business on the side?

I found a place on ebay that makes a carbon fiber superjet hull. They have their last one for sale now and are selling the molds to make them. They are asking $13,000 for the mold setup. I had emailed the guy a few times asking about the molds and what all is involed to make the hull. He said that he would give me some training to get me started and would include supplies to make a complete hull.
I am getting off of active duty military sometime in may or june and moving back to Lancaster PA. I thought this might sound like a great side business and wanted to know if anyone with some skills in fiberglass would want to go in half with me. The guy seems flexiable because I asked him if he could hold the molds in FL till I come back to PA in May or June and could come pick them up.
Here is the link to the ebay ad if you want to check it out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Full-...rcraftQ5fParts

I was thinking the same thing. How much time does it take to build a complete hull?

Re: Anyone interested in starting a hull making business on the side?

not trying to burst your bubble, BUT.... If you were to start making and selling hulls "the correct way" would require a hull builders license from the PA fish/boat commission. I had a friend attempt to do this, and it required jumping through hoops and a lot of $$. If you choose not to go this route, you could just sell as is, but people would have a lot of trouble registering them etc.

Make your own molds, its a hell of a lot cheaper then 13k. I am sure you could do it under 3k. Just need ALOT of time.
