Seth Godin makes some fine points in his blog posting called 'Notice Me'. I am amazed at how people will attach themselves to a tragedy or some form of mistake or shortcoming, spin it, play it and manipulate it to their arena for the sake of being 'noticed'. Never mind the outfall cost associated as long as energy is focused on thier arena, their pleasure domain is vast, but what is the gain? A temporary fix, that won't last long, these posers scour posts looking for bait to ignite responses. Delete the accounts and ban the users who violate the terms and conditions of forum rules.
Self Discipline is a virtue that can mentor and keep a community healthy and safe. One reason keen moderation is needed to keep a 'steady keel' on the spirit of community so that people feel safe and not threatened, or drawn by the wolves in sheeps clothes. I read some posts on this site and others from time to time and I shake my head at the transparency of consistent garbage that people will accept for the mere purpose of entertainment. Waste of time, and time is our greatest commodity, something you can never take back.
Only in America do we allow the 'strong to become weak by allowing the weak to become strong'. Call it for what it is.
Many of us can chuckle at those posters on forums who can talk, but not 'walk the walk'. Easy to hide behind a keyboard or an avatar. Read Seth's blog posting below, it has some valuable insights and Seth definetely captures the essence of 'purpose in action'.

"Notice me"
If the new web has a mantra, that's it.
So much time and effort is now put into finding followers, accumulating comments and generating controversy... all so that people will notice you. People say and do things that don't benefit them, just because they're hooked on attention.
Attention is fine, as long as you have a goal that is reached in exchange for all this effort.
Far better than being noticed:
