| Do not ride alone... Redditch mum pays tribute to her tragic jet-ski son
Dec 9 2008 by Jonny Greatrex, Birmingham Mail
THE grieving mother of a Midland man who went missing after a jet-skiing accident in France today paid tribute to her “perfect son”.
A body, believed to be that of father-of-four Michael Hudson, 45, from Redditch, was found on Friday by coast guards off Baubigny, near Cherbourg.
He had travelled on his own for a water sports holiday but was reported missing on November 28.
His battered Yamaha water scooter was found in Bouley Bay, Jersey on December 1,
His mother Pamela Hudson, 64, also from Redditch, said she warned him about the dangers of being on the water on his own in the winter. “We always used to tell him never to go out on his own but he was 45-years-old and you can’t tell him what to do.
“The sea can be particularly treacherous at this time of year and we were really worried about him.
“Michael was a truly great guy who was loved very much by everyone who knew him. He was a fantastic father and the perfect son, he never gave us any problems.”
Mr Hudson, who worked as a lorry driver, has not been formally identified but family say he was wearing clothes underneath his wet suit and had his driver’s licence and passport in his pocket.
A hire car used by Mr Hudson was found nearby and police described some of his distinctive tattoos.
Michael’s wife of 10 years, Lisa, 39, is travelling to France to formally identify the body.
They had a son Aston, eight, and Michael had three children from a previous marriage.
Mrs Hudson added: “Lisa is completely distraught and is struggling to cope with her day to day life.” |
