Very sad news from our friends in Thailand....

Thailand Loses a National PWC Hero

March 24, 2006

From the TJSBA:

Theerawat Lahib passed away on Saturday night 18 March 2006 at Pattaya at only 22 years old. His death is a big loss to all in the family of jet sports. He was a young fantastic rider of Flamingo Racing Team who achieved many world titles. I'm sure many can remember him at the 2005 World Finals where showed his strength and determination by overcoming an accident during the race and going on to win the title.

Some of his many accolades include:

2002 World Champion in Expert Runabout 1200 SS.
2004 World Champion in Expert Runabout 1200 SS.
2005 World Champion in Amateur Runabout 1200 SS.
2006 TJAWS Champion in Pro Am Ski 800 Open.

Theerawat Larhib will always be remembered as HERO of Thailand.

I was unable to locate any further details of this young man's death online. Very sad that one would pass at such a young age, but I hope he was doing something he was passionate about.

I am sad for him and his family and friends. The Thai racers are always friendly and fun to pit next to.

A sad day indeed.

I am not 100% sure but I think I know who this is,,, I have a hard time with the Thai racers names. Anyway if I have the right guy he was smoking fast at Havasu in 2004 taking the overall in Expert 1200 Super Stock. Theerawat Lahib was right next to us in the first slot for one of the motos. Very sad news today. I went though my pictures from Havasu 2004 and upload pictures of Theerawat Lahib and some of the other Thailand crew. The whole PWC community has lost a very talented racer.

This is sad news indeed. Was this from an accident while racing?

Please excuse me if l'm out of order, but l did hear one of the Thai racers was shot in a brawl at or near a club a few weeks ago, and that he died.

This is the info I'm getting too - and if true - very sad.

I'm still awaiting confirmation from the TJSBA.
